Dr. Kumudshankar Roy (1892–1950) was a pioneering Bengali chest physician, tuberculosis specialist, and visionary health administrator from undivided Bengal. He was the founding architect of the Jadavpur Tuberculosis Hospital (now K.S. Roy Tuberculosis Hospital in Kolkata), the first modern sanatorium for tuberculosis in Bengal. Educated in Calcutta and the United Kingdom, Dr. Roy pioneered scientific treatment regimens for pulmonary tuberculosis and pleurisy, championing public health interventions against communicable diseases. He was a close compatriot of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and served as President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Secretary of the Bengal Tuberculosis Association. ReviewInn preserves the historical medical heritage of Dr. Kumudshankar Roy as an icon of institutional chest medicine and public health dedication in the Bengal delta.
