Dr. Md. Rafiul Islam

Dr. Md. Rafiul Islam is the Chairman and a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Dhaka. His scholarship encompasses medical anthropology, indigenous healing practices, public health systems, and ethnography of marginal communities. He conducts courses in anthropology of health and illness, ethnographic research methods, and anthropological theory. He supervises master's and doctoral research investigating maternal and child healthcare-seeking behavior among rural and tribal populations across Bangladesh. His research articles appear in prestigious social science and public health journals, providing culturally sensitive anthropological insights that inform national primary healthcare policies.
